Is it possible to create a manuver that makes a called shot a +1 modifier instead of a +2 modifier. If so I would like to create the rules for a (Focused Strike.) It would be an advantage in tight quarters because you are focused and foresiteing your opponents next move so therefore you can work around it.

A question for you... what would the negative be for using this "Focus Strike" maneuver be?

Since you are in effect saying that the character is going to go tunnel vision on the target they are going after, does this create a modifier to other opponents when they take a shot at the user of this maneuver?

In theory, yes it would be possible. HOWEVER; you'd have to find a way to explain it in game. Remember that taking a simple action to "Aim" reduces a modifier by +1 already also, which in many instances is enough to have something happen that the player wants. I suppose a specific maneuver could be done with for instance a specific gun/weapon/melee type, but the GM would have to exercise extreme caution.

Also please remember Matt that "Called Shots" are +4 modifier, not a +2. The reason the one you did was only +2 was because your Smartlink Adapter (Cyberware) had reduced the +4 already.

On a focused strike I am trying to delete the modifier and focus on accuracy in a one on one situation. However if there are two or more and you are the attacker, then you leave yourself wide open. No combat pool is allowed. That is the disadvantage to this manuver. However, I believe in one on one combat it will be a BLAST.

New Martial Arts Maneuver

Name: Focus Strike

Affected Martial Arts: Coming Soon... someone remind me to do this in a couple of days

Advantage:
When the martial artist uses this maneuver the target modifier for Called Shots is reduced in half (from a 4 to a 2).

Disadvantages:
  • This maneuver can only be used against a single target.
  • For anyone other than the target, the character is considered to "Open to Attack" in that the character does not get to dodge any attack made against them by anyone other than their target.

This kind of penalty reminds me of the "free action" that people get to take if a character moves past them without making a defensive action as they are performing the move.

I'm bringing this one back up so that Kyle/Skyy and Mike/Herc sees what Matt/Cyrus was trying to do the other night and we stopped him on. He was in the right, we were in the wrong.

OOOPS!!!
