... and just don't know it? Simple enough question really. I would really like to use MySQL capable database structures that an ACCESS oriented programmer or a php-based interface could be developed for.

Helpful hints and/or ideas would be appreciated.

Have you looked into the database structure that Frontpage has information on? It is something I am considering for The Trails for the availability dates.

No, I haven't actually ... not sure about them yet, but I'm sure they're ODBC/ACCESS oriented stuff as that is all Microsoft's software in that manner.

I'm going to have to champion MoveableType ( http://www.moveabletype.org ), as an adequate solution here.

1. You can categorize things.
2. It has built in search capabilities for the public, or private.
3. Extensive Templates.
4. You can use db support (db-orientated), but I find it more handy to use the textfile version (fewer headaches).
5. Web-based administration.
6. Multiple-access levels.
7. Upload files.
8. Community Support
9. Multiple content sites within a domain

It has an active support community. Support make or breaks software. The link below is their support forum.

http://www.movabletype.org/cgi-bin/ikon ... nboard.cgi

I should note that moveabletype is not slashcode (slashdot derivatives). I don't particularly like slashcode because of support, style and usage issues.

Are you still concerning a DB integration?

I just played a bit with PHP and MySQL, it's not that complicated but it would be lot's of work to build HHH from the scratch with an PHP/MySQL backbone. :?

I would like to pursue it yes, but the time and/or monetary involvement is massive. Malv's suggestion above still remains the one I'm more curious about at this point, but there's always other options, especially given that so much of the website's "Text" is already there (with about 50 pages of more that has never made it beyond notes stage on three different personal systems).

Why you asking?

And btw, Happy Valentines Day for those who enjoy it.

Mostly out of curiosity.

I wanted to improve the structure of my LAN Apache server with some spice of MySQL and was looking for ready to use packages - but didn't find any useful. Then I remembered, that you had such plans...

After the exams of this term I just need something to code/relax and looking on my first drafts this project seems not that hard to finish. And coding for an online page would even leave a better feeling than just for the LAN server :D

You have far more ability to relax with code than I do guy. However, hearing some ideas from you would be really nice also. I would like this project to move, but because of THREEH my time just doesn't exist (whomever said owning a small business was a dream needed to remember the nightmares during the first few years too).

Then I'll relax a bit more and send you some result (if I have them).

Any special wishes? Format of the files, folder hirachy, features etc... B)

Oh and do you have a place to test it :?

I have places to test it, but need to know what you need in order to do so. As for hierarchy, something common-sensical would be just fine. In other words, don't put "spells" under "rigger gear" etc... ;-P

Granted, the Rigger-Mage has always been something we thought would be entertaining to watch ("I'm assensing the spirit ... good, I see it... now run over the damn thing")

    mod_php4-core 4.3.3-13
    libmcrypt 2.5.7-33
    MySQL 4.0.15-9

which are the latest updates available for this packages from SuSE.

We have all of this installed. I can create you a database but need to know if you need it named anything in particular or anything. Also how do you plan on working with it as basically everything to mysql is firewalled off. I can open up something to your ip or a shell account or something.

No, it can be named anything you like.

The mysql-user that is used needs the right to create tables and insert, select, update & delete something from the tables, that are created during installation. On my home system I created a new user with rigths only for this particular db, where he has also the drop. index & alter rights.

You mean working with the MySQL-database? It's all done from the PHP-scripts (in theory). A shell account (SSH I suppose) should be just fine for checking the db.
